He has to stay center to remain popular and get re-elected.
For the same reason Clinton did. His radicalism has been soundly rejected by the electorate, and he has to hurry up and try to look like a centrist in order to get re-elected in 2012. Hopefully for the sake of America, it doesn’t work this time.
Because he cares enough about his country to not let people blinded by irrationality, ignorance and hate run the show. If that means moving to the centre, so be it.

Your premise is false. The President hasn’t been doing “back flips”. What’s interesting, you didn’t formulate this question yourself, you simply plagiarized another person’s perspective. You seem to believe everything that a conservative says, no matter how idiotic.
Because, that is what he is told to do. Presidents don’t make the decisions in the country anymore, they just stand around and look pretty for the country.

After watching the results of the 2010 election, Hussein knows that, in order to get re-elected in 2012, he must do exactly what he did in 2008: pretend to be a moderate in order to fool moderates into voting for him. Time will tell whether people are THAT gullible.

The President represents Americans. It may surprise you to know approximately 80 percent of American voters are moderates who want the Congress and President to find compromises and solve our economic problems. All politicians want to keep their jobs, but they can’t be elected by screaming fanatics who only represent a small percentage of votes from the extreme left or right.
For the very same reason Obama started “emphasizing” his Christian upbringing and how his faith, Christianity has been a source of “power and inspiration during these troubled times…” Of course this was only DAYS before Egypt and Tunisia “exploded”.
